The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office Detectives are looking for additional information regarding the February 1999 disappearance and death of Pilar Rodriguez, a 4 year old female who was staying at the Trail Apartments with her babysitter Melissa Cooper and Cooper's boyfriend Keith Wilson.
Melissa Cooper, now known as Melissa Harding-Jones was arrested in 2010 by Charlotte County Sheriff's Office Major Crime Unit-Cold Case detectives in Washington State and charged with Aggravated Manslaughter of a Child which resulted in a guilty plea in 2013.
Both Melissa Cooper and Keith Wilson have been convicted in this case, Cooper pled guilty to Accessory after the fact and Wilson was found guilty of 2nd Degree Murder in a October, 2017 trial. Although this case has been completed from a criminal prosecution standpoint, the remains of Pilar Sofia Rodriguez have not been found and recovered. Cooper testified at the Keith Wilson trial that she did not know where Wilson took the body of Pilar Rodriguez and Keith Wilson has not provided those details to law enforcement. CCSO Major Crime Unit-Cold Case Detectives believe that someone besides Keith Wilson, also has this information and has not yet come forward!

STATUS: OPENSUSPECTED SUICIDE RULED HOMICIDE #TheSearchContinues
On May 21, 2002, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a possible suicide. Deputies went to the scene and notified detectives. When detectives examined the scene further, they determined the case was in fact a homicide. The victim was identified as John Smith, a white male with a date of birth of January 17, 1947. The investigation continues.

On 09/13/2003, a witness flagged down a deputy with the Collier County Sheriff’s Office in the area of Rose Avenue and East Delaware Avenue in Immokalee. A woman was found deceased in a wooded area. The victim was later identified as 39-year-old Catalina Lechuga of Immokalee. Lechuga had died from multiple stab wounds. The death was determined to be a homicide. The investigation continues.

On October 10, 1980, the body of 36-year-old Merritt Wheeler, Sr. was discovered in Horse Creek near the bridge at County Road 769 within Desoto County, Florida. Based on the facts from the scene, it was clear Wheeler had suffered substantial injury before being placed into the body of water. The death was determined to be a homicide. The investigation continues.

On May 12, 2000, the Lee County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a call in the area of Dupree Avenue and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Fort Myers. The caller stated there was a male lying under a tree. When they arrived they discovered a deceased male. The decedent was identified as John “Pops” Joseph, a white male with a date of birth of December 12, 1931. Joseph was a transient living in the area. Fort Myers Police Department responded to the Renaissance Preserve Community on April 21, 2013, after receiving reports of gun shots on Capulet Lane around 11:30 p.m. The victims were 20-year-old Paul Baldwin and 17-year-old Jiatarious Brunson, both of Fort Myers. They were found with gun shot wounds and were taken to Lee Memorial Hospital where later they succumbed to their injuries. Brunson, also known as JoJo, was a sophmore at Fort Myers High School and was apart of the football team.

On May 8, 2001, deputies with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call in the area of 2266 French Street in Fort Myers. The caller stated that a neighbor had been injured. When they arrived they found the victim and he was transported to the hospital, where he was later declared deceased. The decedent was identified as George Allin Norris, a black male with a date of birth of January 27, 1962. The death was determined to be a homicide. The investigation continues.

Tomorrow marks the 3-year anniversary since a 25 year old mother was gunned down in a Bonita Springs drive by. On April 21, 2018, shots rang out in front of a Bonita Springs home. Destiney Bocanegra was fatally shot while trying to block her four year old son from being hit. She ended up dying with him in her arms.
What happened on that horrible night? Somebody knows something. The person responsible for taking her life is still out there. Her son has spent three birthday's without his mom. Justice needs to be served, which will allow the healing process to begin for her son and family. This family needs closure. This family needs peace.

On April 24, 2006, Sabino Corona-Velasquez, a white Hispanic male with a date of birth of June 8, 1968, from Lake Wales, FL was reported missing by his fiancé. On May 5, 2006 at 10:08 a.m. the Lee County Sheriff's Office received a 9-1-1 call in reference to a possible deceased person located off I-75 near mile marker 132. The decedent was later identified as Sabino Corona-Velasquez. The death was determined to be a homicide. The investigation continues.

On Saturday, January 17, 2015, at 4:00 a.m., the Fort Myers Police Department responded to a call of a man down in the 3000 block of Broadway Avenue. The victim was found on the sidewalk at the intersection of Solomon Boulevard and Broadway Avenue. He had been shot once in the head and died at the scene. The male was later identified as 31-year-old Wilfred Thibeau. The death was determined to be a homicide. The investigation continues.
